The girls are doing great, and finally got to name them. I invited our neighbor, Katie, to check them out and had her name one of them. Now I have my lovely ladies - Phyllis (supposedly a Jersey Giant), Ethel (Easter Egger), and Rose (Easter Egger). I don't think I will be naming the others, the Welsummers all look the same lol. I was told that I should put a foot tag on them, which I do have, but I don't know yet.
I joined several chicken groups on Facebook, in hopes to learn more about caring for them. So far, I've seen a lot of good things but I've also seen a lot of posts I could not unsee. I didn't think caring for chickens would be a handful, but I guess it's more about whether you treat them as livestock or as pets. Anyways, mine are pets so I guess I'll try to give them utmost care possible.
On thing I am learning the hard way tho, is that they have so much dander! So they are in my office, where my late guinea pigs used to be. Oh goodie, my whole office is very dusty. I was warned, I didn't think it would be that bad. I mean, it's liveable but everything gets dust! I even started to see old spider webs that I didn't even know existed on my wall!
I've been really happy with them, and I'm also glad I haven't had any issues. I'm anticipating them, just based on the things I've been reading - but I really haven't had any issues. I guess I am doing the right things!
