I have a little bit of catching up to do with some of my posts. I used to back date them, but then I find it moot because who's going to see those, right? I've decided to continue posting our trips that I have previously not, just to share them to y'all! It was off season and about this time of year - so here's some things to keep in mind!
Today, let's look back at our trip to Washington Island, WI from September 2023
This was actually my first time to go to this side of the state, and see Door County with my own eyes. I've seen a lot of fun and interesting things about Door County, but have never really gone there myself. Our trip To Washington Island had us ride through this beautiful place to our true destination.
To get there, you will have to take the Washington Island Ferry Line from the tip of Door County. There are also cruises that you can check out online from other companies if you do not wish to stay there too long and want a day tour and come back afterwards. You can also bring your vehicle. Of course, we brought the Harley - it's a road trip!

Every year, Bear's paternal side holds a family gathering in Tomahawk, WI. It's a small town up north with a beautiful scenery. I wasn't able to save the high quality images, but here's a glimpse of Tomahawk in summer. And no, I didn't lose my drone this time.
When I first got my motorcycle license, I was riding a Kawasaki Z125. It was a small, cute, mini version of a sports bike and it was fun to ride around. The only issue I've really had is my lack of confidence in shifting - the clutch work and the timing - is just really overwhelming for me. Needless to say, this resulted to the not-so-great crash of 2020.
I really didn't want to ride anymore. I was content being a passenger, but we thought why not give it another shot? I really didn't want to deal with the clutch work and panic once more - so in fall of 2021, I got a 2022 Honda ADV150.
We definitely couldn't wait to get over the cold weather so when the first signs of warmth knocked on Wisconsin's door steps, we grabbed the chance! Each year, I take a week off for Bear's birthday, and my birthday. Most of the time we plan on doing something for Bear's birthday week(end), and for my week I usually just use it to chill, relax, and craft.
Last month, for Bear's birthday we decided to camp at Governor Dodge State Park. I recently added on my bucket list to, hopefully, get to visit all state parks in Wisconsin. I really enjoy camping, and it feels good to just be away from the city and experience nature.
Is it too early to tell?
Well it's already December in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and we haven't had a good snow just yet. There was supposed to be a blizzard today and we were supposed to get about five inches of snow. It's almost midnight and nothing. Some places did quite a lot tho, so I think for some reason it totally skipped our home.
While I wallow in my disappointment that I didn't get my white, fluffy snow - most of the people here are glad. For reasons that I understand, but can't justify myself, I know why many people here do not like the snow. It's cold, it makes the streets icy and harder to drive, you have to shovel or blow the snow and on, and on. Well I do not hate doing any of those, and I actually would choose to blow the snow rather than mowing the lawn.
We are finally home!
I haven't updated in a bit and sadly a bit delayed uploading some videos but I am pretty very happy. Just a quick update, my 2-week vacation from work is about to end which is quite sad, but I think we've accomplished quite a bit in those two weeks. That being said - more updates to come!
It's that most wonderful time of the year....
Merry Yule!
I definitely love this season, and this year we celebrated Yule as a family, away from home, in a small, cozy cabin by the Brule River right on the border of Wisconsin and Michigan.
I did it! I finally did it!!
While I was pretty well adjusted when I moved here in the US, there were still a some things that took quite some time for me to get comfortable with. One of that is driving - I didn't really like driving alone, especially going to far places that's outside of my safe zone. Well today I finally did it - I went to South Park Beach in Waupaca! As simple as it sounds, it was a big win. I met up with a good friend from work, Elyse, and we had a great time under the sun!
Sometimes city life can get really busy. I mean, I don't really go out especially with everything that's going on and with myself working from home but the city is the city. I don't live in a big city. Oshkosh is pretty much a medium sized city, no sky scrapers or crazy traffic (just every once in a while). There is one thing that is very much treasured by Wisconsinites. It's what they (we) call "Up North".
Up North is the place in the northern part of the state where people go to be with nature. Some people rent places to stay, some go hiking or camping, many go fishing, and many actually have their own land. Luckily for us, we have our own piece of nature to escape to. It's definitely one of my favorite places to go hike or simply just sit on the porch and take photographs.
It's gonna be hot, the weather app said.
There's 50% chance of rain for 0.02 inches, the weather app said. That's not a lot, the weather app said. Watch my short petty fiasco and some race clips at Road America for the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship. |
