I did it! I finally did it!!
While I was pretty well adjusted when I moved here in the US, there were still a some things that took quite some time for me to get comfortable with. One of that is driving - I didn't really like driving alone, especially going to far places that's outside of my safe zone. Well today I finally did it - I went to South Park Beach in Waupaca! As simple as it sounds, it was a big win. I met up with a good friend from work, Elyse, and we had a great time under the sun!
The ocean, the sea, the beach... it has always played an integral part of my life. Growing up in a tropical island(s), our summers consisted of going to group outings to nearby beaches. As I got older, I was able to travel more and then I started visiting more sandy havens. Well that all changed when I moved to Wisconsin.
See, as much as I love snow, my fascination with it doesn't replace the ocean. The closest I've got are lakes. From the Pacific Ocean, I'm now living right next to the largest bodies of fresh water - the Great Lakes. Aside from these big lakes that, honestly, are almost like seas, we have a lot more smaller lakes in the area. Today that's where I went!
Yes, there is sand!! Perhaps not white sand, but there is sand! Also not black, volcanic sand - just regular fine sand. I still am very happy to put my feet on the ground.
The best part is spending it with some friends!
It was a really nice discovery. I think I will make it a point to learn more beaches in the area. South Park Beach is about an hour or so from where I live so it's a bit of a drive and it's not five minutes away but I think it's a nice little spot.
I still really wanna go to the local pool but I'm yet to convince Bear to come with me. I don't really like the thought of going there alone but perhaps it's time to put my big girl bikinis and just do it! In the mean time, I really had a great time. Summers are for water fun!
