Every year, Bear's paternal side holds a family gathering in Tomahawk, WI. It's a small town up north with a beautiful scenery. I wasn't able to save the high quality images, but here's a glimpse of Tomahawk in summer. And no, I didn't lose my drone this time.

I have always been fascinated by airplanes, and I've always wanted to see the Warbirds since I was a kid. A big part of it is my Grandpa telling me WWII stories (he was born in 1907!) and it really peaked my interest. I've taken great interest in the B2 Bomber and F117-A. When the F117 was replaced by the F22, I was really thrilled - but never would I have thought at the time that I would see it in person, up close, and even capture it's majestic beauty.
I probably should've said this last week but it's officially fall! The leaves have turned, snicker doodle is in the air, the wind is chilly - it's absolutely lovely! This is also the time of year when I hoard the autumn scents from Bath and Body Works because not gonna lie, it's my scent all year round. It's also time for family photos! Had some new family photos taken, and actually the first time we're able to do fall pictures. Really excited and glad we got it scheduled just in time. We were introduced to this small park/trail in town that I never knew about. It's actually a very small place, but it's very pretty especially for a small family session.
This season also signals the start and end of certain things.
As you may already know, photography and arts are my biggest passion. I've always loved anything imagery related since I was little and photography is an integral part of my existence. Well then, why not take one step forward and explore flying and capturing the sky.
Today, we welcome my new DJI Mini 2
I absolutely have no clue what I'm doing - I did a little bit of research and the basic rules. I confirmed I do not need a Part 107 license because I have no intentions to use it commercially; and I do not need to register the drone itself since the weight is below 250 grams. That being said - I still need a lot of practice because this is a totally new game.
Now, let's take a look a first look at this baby.
Miss Nellie Mae is a little girl big a lot of personality.

Sometimes city life can get really busy. I mean, I don't really go out especially with everything that's going on and with myself working from home but the city is the city. I don't live in a big city. Oshkosh is pretty much a medium sized city, no sky scrapers or crazy traffic (just every once in a while). There is one thing that is very much treasured by Wisconsinites. It's what they (we) call "Up North".
Up North is the place in the northern part of the state where people go to be with nature. Some people rent places to stay, some go hiking or camping, many go fishing, and many actually have their own land. Luckily for us, we have our own piece of nature to escape to. It's definitely one of my favorite places to go hike or simply just sit on the porch and take photographs.
I've been working on some images today and I wanted to go for a particular look and background. I have many resources, most if not all, I have paid for so I have the full versions and/or the licensing to use them. I've been looking around the backdrops and overlays that I already have but can't find one that feels right.
I did a free trial on this website so I poked around and saw what I needed there! The perfect overlay!! But to access it, it's $19/month. It doesn't really sound expensive, but I already have several subscriptions and I will probably just use it a few times. I've been contemplating. I can purchase the overlays for more than what the subscription is. It doesn't make sense then. Just like most hobbies, art and photography resources can get pretty expensive. It's $19 and $10 and $30 here and there. It's like buying small items and you realize your $100 didn't get that far. The real question is - is it worth it? For me, I do think so! I've found so many uses for different resources from creating websites and editing images, to printing cards and enhancing artworks. The thing is - some post processing doesn't mean extreme changes. It can be minor details that make such difference.
It's finally happening!!
I've contemplated this for a very long time and I've finally decided to just have a separate site for my blog! I've also decided to start taking on photography projects on the side and step up from just doing it as a hobby. That actually led to me updating my photography website to focus more on business and make it less personal. That's two things that got me thinking for a bit and I'm glad I pushed forward with both of it! |
