Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year ♥
I will begin with saying I am not religious, and I believe in nature and a higher deity. That being said, I sometimes get asked (usually by Bear), how can I love Christmas so much as it really has no religious meaning to me. There are several things that make me truly appreciate this holiday and today I will talk about these things that I do not really openly discuss. Lights, Glitter, and Decor
My reasons aren't really in any particular order and this first reason probably sounds shallow to some, but for some reason I really enjoy decorating and definitely love the lights. There's something about lights that really amaze me. I love fireworks, holiday lights, flickering lights... lightworks just really make me feel... happy.
That being said, this year I was able to decorate more outside and it really made me happy. I love the puppy too! I think that's my favorite decor to date. I guess with decorating comes shopping, and I got to admit that I probably have some mild shopping addiction. My Lolo Jake Now this reason is a little bit more sentimental, and I think it actually connects to the first one. My Lolo (Grandpa) Jake made our Christmas great. It wasn't anything fancy, but it sure gave me the best and fondest memories of my childhood. I really wish I could get more photos, but I probably will have to dig some boxes when I visit the Philippines. Growing up, my Lolo would decorate his house with Christmas lanterns. We would hang it together, and I always thought they look fun. I remember I even made a parol (star lantern) in school and Lolo would hang it every year. Then the best part - getting the Christmas tree done! See, we didn't have pine trees there so best we got are fake trees. We didn't have a big house, and neither did my Lolo. Now I think about it, he made this tree from scratch. It was a small tree he would place on the balcony table, probably about 2 feet tall. The branches fold in and out, then we would wrap garland on the branches. Then we would hang our ornaments, a lot of them were old probably from the 50s and 60s. We would sit on the balcony and watch our little tree shine through the night. That was my grandpa and me... that's our holidays. Giving Gifts I love giving gifts. No, I'm not expecting anything in return at all. I just like giving gifts. Some people tell me that they don't like Christmas because you're obliged to gift gives that people don't appreciate, then you can't return the value of what they gave you. I don't know, I guess that's just not how I perceive it. I like giving gifts and if I had more money, I would love to just give little gift bags to everyone. With all of that being said, I'm just happy to settle in our very own home that I can now decorate as I please. Probably already a given, Bear cannot stop me lol. On a fluffier note - here's Ein for tax! We're bringing him home in three weeks!!
He's grown so much!!
