Me: I want another puppy. I think Hans would really love to have a sibling. See how he cries every time we drive by another puppy and how happy he gets when he's in daycare?
Bear: We can't. We don't own the house and we don't have enough room for two dogs. So we bought the house. And got a puppy :) Okay, I lied, that's not how it went. We've been planning to buy the house we live in for a few years now. Unfortunately, life happens and things change, and we were unable to move forward. See, I'm the kind of person that when I set my eyes on something, I have to get it. This is taking too long. So I told myself and Bear - we're getting the house this fall. Bear shrugged, sure. What better way to seal the deal than to make sure you're getting the best home warming gift to the family? Get a new family member. I put us on a waitlist for late 2020 or early 2021. And by October 25th, our Ein was born. Hello World, meet Ein the Corgi.
I know, I know. That seems impulsive; but I knew we could buy the house at that time. It just needs something to seal the deal. We can't raise a puppy properly in a small place (we lived only one floor and buying means we'll occupy the whole house and the yard!).
Off we went to Platteville, Wisconsin to visit Ein for the first time at Karen's Corgis. It was quite a ways away so Bear was pretty darn tired. See, I thought the kennel was in Appleton. I thought Platteville was like as far as Kimberly is to Appleton. Well I"m completely on the wrong side of the map and it turns out we're supposed to head closer to Dubuque, Iowa than anywhere else.
Three hours later, my chauffeur is tired but who can resist that little peanut???
Ein's siblings just opened their eyes too, and his mommy Jewel is such a sweet heart!!!
I can't wait to bring him home and have a corgi baby in our lives. I'm still curious how Hans will like it. He's very good with human kids and other dogs but he's never had another puppy stay with us longer than overnight. I'm really excited for Hans and of course, myself. Hans always, always wants to play. He loves meeting other dogs. I know getting a baby brother will be a complete game changer. Change doesn't stop there. Puppy: Secured. Home... Secured! Finally, we are now officially home owners as well. November's been a good month so far. I know 2020 has been really tough in many ways to a lot of people. I'm not going to lie that we've also had our share of hardships that I keep offline. But life goes on, and I want to keep moving forward. This year is supposedly a buyer's market with low interest rates and good prices. Well, our home had a fixed price as we had a deal with the home owner we rented from. The interest rate, on the other hand, is amazing! I wasn't expecting it to be that low so I'm glad we actually took the plunge. The loan officer asked me when I initially applied for the mortgage - would you like to lock in the rates now? Of course I do, yes please! While I've already done some little changes here and there throughout the years, there's nothing really major. I had to do something so I painted the piig room aka maybe home office.
Painting walls is actually pretty satisfying. Can't wait to do much more!
So I guess this is it for now. Nothing major major in the mean time.
