It's been very, very long since I last played a guitar. When I met my husband, one of the things that really attracted me to him was the fact that he was in a bank and played guitar and bass. I know it sounds really superficial, but I love music specially rock. It's really hard for me to admit that I have no talent in music aside from listening. I can't sing, and sadly I can't play any instrument. I tried learning guitars back in college, but it quickly went to the back burner until the fire just died.
A few weeks ago, the husband decided that he was going to upgrade his old guitars. He went ahead and sold his acoustic guitar since he doesn't really use it; and after many scam messages and flaky trade attempts in Facebook Marketplace, my husband decided to go straight to Guitar Center to trade in his bass and electric guitars and got himself an Epiphone Les Paul. Prior that, he got himself a Fender Kurt Cobain Jaguar and a Fender Jazz Bass. Long story short, the messy living room is now a messy studio.
I didn't really plan on trying to play guitars again. In fact, I was debating if I should learn piano or violin. I've always loved pianos, but they're huge. I figured violins are still classical but I can take with.
When we went to the store to trade in the guitars, of course, like a child I was getting bored. I was walking around, bouncing as usual. Then they had an enclosed room for acoustic guitars. For some reason, I really felt like I should go in there. So I did.
I walked around and noticed there's quite a few options that weren't expensive. I figured I could probably get away with a lower tier guitar - afterall, I'm not a pro and don't really intend to play that much.
I kept walking and my heart stopped.
My eyes dawned on these two guitars with such beautiful wood grain. I, personally, know nothing about guitars aside from they play music. All I could think of was that these guitars look so beautiful.
After Bear finished his trade, he went with me into the acoustic room and tried several guitars including the two beautiful ones. He determined that one of the guitars sounded better than the other, so if I was to get one that should be it. Apparently each guitar can have its unique tone. Well, I was quite sad tho, I didn't really have budget right now for those. I was hoping for a $100-$200 one, that I could probably buy in a month or so. Broque for life. I was ready to leave without either of these beauties. but Bear decided that we can go ahead and get them! So we did.
My second guitar in two decades finally came home with me.
Oh, and another perk? If we would call it that. My husband bought another guitar to play Rocksmith with because he didn't want to use his expensive guitars to play a video game. So, he found a decent one on eBay that was in auction. He won the bid, got it and apparently it was a Squire Mini LOL. It's not really that small but the neck was shorter. Well, the Bear ended up getting me a mini amp. I set up my little music room in my office. Now, let's hope I continue to learn this and be able to someday say, I can play guitars. ![]()
