Oh yaaas it finally happened! Alright, well it happened last week but I'm still as happy as I was after I left the salon!
I finally achieved that level of ash blonde!
My hair is dark brown with very fine strands. I've always loved coloring my hair and I actually started when I was 11 years old. My mom let me go to a salon and had my hair colored burgundy. I was really happy and it felt really... good. Most Asian hair is very dark (like mine) but also have very thick strands.
I never really gave it a thought until recently, but I think there's a lot of confusion when they say Asians have dark, thick hair. By thick - yes it's correct that most of us have a lot of hair making it thick. But also, most commonly the strands themselves are also thick. I have a lot of hair but they're pretty fine which works to my advantage.
My hairstylist, Erika at the Avenue Salon here in Oshkosh, works wonders!
If you have hair other than blonde, you probably know the struggle of toning it to a cooler hue. When I was a teenager, I always ended up with brassy hair. Like - how do people just bleach their hair and be perfectly platinum blonde?!
Well, they don't. You need a good toner and lots of love. By that, I mean maintenance. A lot of it. I don't have regrets tho! I love it and I plan to grow it longer and maintain it, and not be tempted to color my hair, like, red...
